Shields
William Shields
was 21 years old when he enlisted in January 1887. Discharged
with a disability having acheived the rank of Corpral in September
1908. A more complete military record will be posted when further
research time becomes available.
This photograph
is of Seminole-Negro Indian Scouts Cpl. Fay July and Pvt. William
Shields, late 1890s. The two served as scouts for the Army for
more than 20 years.
