Adam Clark was the son of John A. Clark (b 1809 Pa.) and Elizabeth Ann Correll (Korrell) (b 1811 Pa.). He was one of nine children - Mary Polly, William, Margaret, Thomas, Alexander, Alfred and Andrew Clark.
In 1853 Adam worked for Ephriam Hunter in Plain Grove, Mercer Co., Pa. A year later December 14, 1854 he married Elizabeth Jane Hunter, daughter of Ephriam and Mary Ann (Roberts) Hunter in Mercer Co. Pa. Once married Adam worked his father-in-laws farm for seven years. In 1861 and up to his enlistment in 1864 he worked for a James Lawrence also of Mercer County as a farmer and laborer.
He enlisted with the 212th/6th PA HA on 30 August 1864 at the age of 31. When he enlisted he was 5 foot, 10 1/2 inches tall, brown eyes and dark complexion. Some of his fellow soldiers were gentlemen that he was well acquainted with John Luther of New Castle, James Brest, Miles Patton (Could be the brother of Joseph Patton, who descendant married into the Clark and Schell / Shell family), Asher E Lawrence of Liberty, Mercer Co. (The son of James Lawrence), David Gilliland, James Lawrence, and Corp. James Mc Milliam.
After Adam was discharged in June of 1865 he returned to Mercer County to work for James Lawrence. He then moved to Coalburg, Ohio in March 1867 he moved to Coalburg, Ohio. While in Coalburg he worked for the Coal Bank. Then from April 1882 until his death in 1907 he lived in Hartford, Trumbull Co., Ohio. He is buried in Center Cemetery, Brookfield, Trumbull Co., Ohio
