Training

The Alexandria Radio Club offers training courses twice a year, generally in the spring and the fall, which run for 12 weeks. The fall class has been scheduled starting Tuesday, October 9th meeting at INOVA Alexandria Hospital, Training Rooms 1 and 2, 4320 Seminary Road, Alexandria, VA. Class ends with the licensing exam on Tuesday, December 11th. The focus is on passing the entry level (Technician Class) licensing exam but General and Extra Class courses will be offered if there is enough interest.

Class covers all of the things you need to know to be a ham radio operator - Rules and procedures, propagation, practice, electricity, components, circuits, emissions, antennas and RF safety. We will take you over the concepts, demonstrate them on a ham station in the classroom, discuss typical exam questions and help you step by step through learning Morse Code.

The class fee is $45 which covers the exam fee and includes a copy of "The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual - All you need to become an Amateur Radio Operator" (also known as the Technician Class Manual).
